Ginger’s garden has been a labor of love since its inception 25 years ago. It is a 5 acre plot with a stream (formerly a drain dug by farmers to redirect water flow) and approximately 2 acres of woods. Ginger has landscaped her acreage in phases. The first phase was around the home. Here she planted a variety of trees, shrubs and numerous perennials. All bloom at different times throughout the season.

The second phase included adding flower gardens on either side of the stream and building a waterfall and pond. Here thousands of bulbs plants grow including daffodils, hyacinths and tulips.

Phase 3 extended the back yard garden to include a paved walkway, a deck, a gazebo and another waterfall and pond. The walkway takes you through plantings of peonies, poppies, daylilies, irises, delphiniums, lilies, various shrubs and trees. Ginger’s garden continues into the woods with displays of spring bulbs, hosta, bleeding heart, and a steam now lined with marsh marigolds.

In the fall of 2003 Ginger handplanted 9,000 grape hyacinth to create a blue river flowing through the woods. She will not stop there. Every year she continues to add gardens, saying, “I never have enough flowers.”
